Ways to Lose Weight

Losing weight is not as easy as it sounds. Like anything else, it takes patience and persistence. Here are a few things that will help:

1. Start slowly. Weight gain has taken years to accumulate so you won't be able to shed excess weight overnight.

2. Eat breakfast. People who skip breakfast have an unstable blood sugar level, which makes them hungry. So they will more likely eat more unhealthy snacks and eat larger portions at other meals.

3. Write down what you eat. Using a food diary will show you what you are eating, the time you are eating and, more importantly, WHY you are eating.

4. Move your body. Exercise burns calories and suppresses the appetite. Exercising for only 30 minutes a day will increase your fitness level.

5. Get support. Find someone else who wants to lose weight and become fit and "buddy-up" with that person. A good support system will work wonders.

6 Eat fruits, vegetables and grains. These foods contain much needed nutrients and very little fat.

7. Reward yourself for hitting small goals. For every 5 pounds, for instance, reward yourself with a new book, a trip to the movies or a warm bubble bath. (No food rewards!)
